Dr. Kathy Backus is trained in large and small animal veterinary practices.
Dr. Backus has been in practice for over 13 years. She routinely attends seminars, training and continuing education courses to stay on the cutting edge of medical treatments available.
Dr. Backus is the veterinary contact for the AZ strip of the Az livestock emergency response team in the event of a biohazard, bioterrorism or zoonotic event.
Dr. Backus has additional certification in both acupuncture (IVAS) and chiropractic (AVCA) and offers holistic or integrative medicine consultation by email and by phone to patients that are not geographically close. Healing is the goal in whatever form is necessary to achieve this.
The Kanab clinic is not open nights and weekends. However, Dr Backus works closely with the Southwest Animal Emergency clinic in Washington where she often works and has gained valuable experience in emergency procedures.
Dr. Backus works with a number of veterinary specialists on referral as a team. This extends into contacts in Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Salt Lake City. She always makes a tremendous effort to communicate with all parties involved for a patient to create a healing team.
